Scientific research generates some of the most visually compelling work in the world – and some of the most photographically demanding. Controlled environments, strict access protocols, sensitive equipment, and processes that happen once and cannot be restaged: laboratory and research photography requires a photographer who understands the science, not just the light.
I photograph laboratories, research facilities, and scientific infrastructure across Germany and internationally – from ultra-high vacuum systems and PVD chambers to aeroacoustic wind tunnel setups, laser optics, and cleanroom environments. Based in NRW and working with institutions including the Center for Sensor Systems (ZESS) at the University of Siegen, I combine over a decade of commercial photography experience with a PhD and a background leading communications at both a scientific institution and a technology startup.
Research environments are often complex, rapidly changing, and subject to constraints that can’t be controlled on the day. Where the visual density of a space risks overwhelming the subject, my work deliberately declutters the visual environment – a compositional approach that draws the eye to what matters without erasing the authenticity of the space.
Imagery that meets publication standards, satisfies institutional communications requirements, and translates the complexity of the work into something visually precise and aesthetically compelling – reinforcing what makes the work remarkable.
Based in Telgte near Münster, within close reach of Osnabrück, Bielefeld, and the Ruhr area, I photograph laboratories, research facilities, and scientific infrastructure across Germany and internationally.
