Threatened with extinction: the telephone box. It remains unclear whether downgrades to column form or upgrades to wi-fi and screens will halt or accelerate their demise.

Many of the booths are not in good condition   defective or repurposed, they have lost their primary function, but continue to serve as rain shelters, advertising space, smoking rooms or lavatories for people and animals.
